{113/366 | Texx} Amazing Grace

There is a swallow nest on our front porch. When my older sister was visiting, we happened upon it high in the corner. These aren’t just any swallows they’re Cave Swallows and rare to our area. I’ve been quite obsessed watching both the Mum & Da’ constantly attend to their eggs. I looked up the symbolism for Swallows and this is part of what I found.

It is legend that if a sailor drowns, the swallows will carry their soul to heaven, representing freedom and hope. The swallow also represents love, care and affection towards family and friends, showing the loyalty of the person always returning to them.

I broke down into tears when I read this. My brother was a sailor, an adventurer, a craftsman of LIFE. These rare birds setting up on my front porch…I have no doubt he is here with us.

Welcome back Raf..A lil’ Sister’s Haiku

Hope love freedom family

Swallows carried our sailor away

Summer returns him

I am bound and determined to get a better pic of these fast beauties. This pic more about the symbolism than the technique though.

Howdy! Obsessed with all things photography. Love to teach, and heal through this art. #photogHER2Day Coming to you from Austin, Tx. Above all else (and it's a lot) I'm Mom to Abby & Atlas. Married to my greatest supporter and friend, Curt. Everyday, I choose gratitude over grief.  #MakeTheTime to create for me, so I can be the very best for all those in my life. My "Why": 10 years ago I lost my brother. He was my best friend, my mentor, my compass.  He got sick out of the blue at the 30 years-old and was an inspiration to many. He traveled the world and never had many images to show for it all. I cherish ALL the images we have of Rafael. Blurry or not, I only wish we had more. I capture images of my everyday. Obssessed with capturing moments of my children, of my life and even my businesses. I believe the only thing that seperates a good image from a great image is its ability to tell a story and ultimately make you, the viewer, feel something.
