{224/366 | Texx} Raf-A-Palooza III

Friends and family traveled from many miles to attend this years Raf-A-Palooza. My brother would’ve turned 40 this year, on January 4th. August 24th  will be the eight year anniversary of his passing. We usually find a way to get family together around his birthday, but this year we chose August. We got a HUGE house (dubbed the Commune) near the mountain — where 11 of us ran, some of us (aka Texx-digity) walked Warrior Dash.

It rained, I mean down-poured during the run. My out of shape ars is thankful for that rain. The Hubs stuck it out until we crossed the finish line, he’s pretty awesome! Unfortunately, the sacrifice was our beloved Nikon D300s (she’s off to the Nikon factory; hopefully to return soon – fixed). Minutes after we crossed the finish line the rest of the day was like it is in this picture, AMAZING. This image was taken with our original lovely D60, self timer set and me running into place. LOL, crazy that almost everyone was looking at the camera.

I’m continuously: Amazed by the beautiful souls that we have in our lives.  Impressed by  my unbelievably gracious Mom who’s name should be Mommy the Amazing. Taken aback by the incredible people who made it all the way to  this years Raf-A-Palooza and by everyone who carries Raf in their hearts always. THANK YOU! Big brother… You are missed. You are loved. You are here with us always.

Howdy! Obsessed with all things photography. Love to teach, and heal through this art. #photogHER2Day Coming to you from Austin, Tx. Above all else (and it's a lot) I'm Mom to Abby & Atlas. Married to my greatest supporter and friend, Curt. Everyday, I choose gratitude over grief.  #MakeTheTime to create for me, so I can be the very best for all those in my life. My "Why": 10 years ago I lost my brother. He was my best friend, my mentor, my compass.  He got sick out of the blue at the 30 years-old and was an inspiration to many. He traveled the world and never had many images to show for it all. I cherish ALL the images we have of Rafael. Blurry or not, I only wish we had more. I capture images of my everyday. Obssessed with capturing moments of my children, of my life and even my businesses. I believe the only thing that seperates a good image from a great image is its ability to tell a story and ultimately make you, the viewer, feel something.
