{77/366 | Texx} St. Paddy’s Day!

We scored some Jack Daniels Whiskey Barrels to plant the Lemon Tree. I had to drill holes in the bottom (what you see in the pic). The wood shavings smell of whiskey, pretty cool on this day. Today is St. Patrick’s Day, a  special day indeed. Every year no matter where I am, I get homesick. Today, I miss my brother thinking of St. Paddy’s celebrations past. I miss my family & friends back home. The green beer.  Kegs & Eggs. Long Train Rides paper bagging it. Grand Central Station.  The Parade of all parades. The Green. The Bag Pipes. The Drums.  I miss all the things from a lifetime ago (not that I would trade in this one for anything). I just miss those days, the great celebrations, but mostly my brother.  So, I lost myself in gardening today. In Raf’s honor we’ve finally planted a few trees. One Ghost Eucalyptus. Some Black Bamboo. One Meyer Lemon Tree (which I know he would’ve loooveeed) & that it’s now in a whiskey barrel too. Miss you bro. Miss you.

Howdy! Obsessed with all things photography. Love to teach, and heal through this art. #photogHER2Day Coming to you from Austin, Tx. Above all else (and it's a lot) I'm Mom to Abby & Atlas. Married to my greatest supporter and friend, Curt. Everyday, I choose gratitude over grief.  #MakeTheTime to create for me, so I can be the very best for all those in my life. My "Why": 10 years ago I lost my brother. He was my best friend, my mentor, my compass.  He got sick out of the blue at the 30 years-old and was an inspiration to many. He traveled the world and never had many images to show for it all. I cherish ALL the images we have of Rafael. Blurry or not, I only wish we had more. I capture images of my everyday. Obssessed with capturing moments of my children, of my life and even my businesses. I believe the only thing that seperates a good image from a great image is its ability to tell a story and ultimately make you, the viewer, feel something.
