Portlandia Rise Up {194/365 | texx}
Saturday 7/6/2013 I woke in my fancy hotel room early in the am. Armed with my cameras and charm to get on line (a real line – with people…standing…in real life) to get into the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall to participate in #WDS2013. On the short walk @ 7 in the am, I stumbled upon this beauty.
I had no idea that Portland, Oregon had such stunningly, rich architectural history. Who knew? As a native New Yorker, I’m not going to lie, I’m always shocked when I find these gems West of the Hudson. There you go, my East-Coast snobbery, surry. Portland (on both coasts) is stunning though. I would like to visit again with the sole intension of snapping, day & night. So, I moved onward to the theater…
Standing at the front of the line that was soon to form (did I mention I woke up early – thank you Atlas, for training me well), I overheard a woman talking and how she lives in Yonkers, NY. LOL What are the chances right? I’m from Yonkers. I ended up becoming friends with some gals who were in line with her and of course all New Yorkers. LOL! I’ve always said you NYers are the coolest people
The biggest bond I formed was with Ms. Sheena LaShay. A spit-fire lil’ (sorry, you’re little
) speed demon who happens to run creative retreats (which I totally want to do), is a photographer, is very in tune with herself & so much more. You can check out a bit more about her here SheenaLaShay . I was impressed with her attitude toward life and her person. Watch for her, she’s going places.
This pic was actually snapped a little later in the day because I regretted not asking her earlier when we met. Those catchlights. I ♥.
More to come about #WDS2013 and my outtakes. Until we meet again…Keep smiling, shining, laughing and loving. Love thy self and all else will follow. ~Ché-dawg
