{152/366 | Texx} Vows

May 31st. This would’ve been my grandparent’s 71st Wedding Anniversary. It’s my parents 41st Anniversary. How I wanted it to be our Anniversary as well. It was not in the cards for a 2006 Memorial Weekend Wedding. Our wedding was May 26th, 2006 and we just had the honor of attending (and welcoming a new Sister-in-Law) the Hub’s brother’s beautiful wedding this past Saturday, May 26th. It’s a good weekend to get married, and I wish them as much happiness as I’ve found in these six years.

The sun was setting and I had marriage on the mind. So,  I grabbed The Hub’s Ring (he handed it over rather quickly, hmmmm) and ran across the street for another AMAZING sunset. Six years of marriage, I hardly have all the answers. I will say this marry your friend, make each other laugh – A LOT and listen ~ even when there are no words being spoken.

Here are our Wedding Vows. I wrote these  Six Years ago and I read them every year around our anniversary. My awesome mother-in-law married us. Family & friends flew to Alaska from all corners to bare witness. Every word still stands true:

VOWS

Curt, repeat after me:

I, Curt, take you, Chandra, as my friend and love, beside me and apart from me, in laughter and in tears, in conflict and tranquility, asking that you be no other than yourself, loving what I know of you, trusting what I do not know yet, in all the ways that life may find us.

Chandra, repeat after me:

I, Chandra, take you, Curt, as my friend and love, beside me and apart from me, in laughter and in tears, in conflict and tranquility, asking that you be no other than yourself, loving what I know of you, trusting what I do not know yet, in all the ways that life may find us.

For thousands of years lovers have exchanged rings as a token of their vows. Your rings say that even in your uniqueness you have chosen to be bound together.
Let these rings also be a sign that love has substance as well as soul,
a present as well as a past, and that, despite its occasional sorrows,
love is a circle of happiness, wonder, and delight.

Curt, take Chandra’s ring and put it on her finger, and repeat after me:

I give you this ring as a reminder that I love you today,
and every day of your life.
My commitment to you will never fail/
As a symbol of my vow, and with all that I am, and all that I have, I honor you.

Chandra, take Curt’s ring and put it on his finger, and repeat after me:

Just as this circle is without end, my love for you is eternal/
Just as it is made of indestructible substance/
my commitment to you will never fail/
Take and wear this ring as a symbol of my love/

With it I wed you, and commit my life to you forever.

Sunset that pulled me outside

Sunset. Wedding Vows. Love Forever.

Howdy! Obsessed with all things photography. Love to teach, and heal through this art. #photogHER2Day Coming to you from Austin, Tx. Above all else (and it's a lot) I'm Mom to Abby & Atlas. Married to my greatest supporter and friend, Curt. Everyday, I choose gratitude over grief.  #MakeTheTime to create for me, so I can be the very best for all those in my life. My "Why": 10 years ago I lost my brother. He was my best friend, my mentor, my compass.  He got sick out of the blue at the 30 years-old and was an inspiration to many. He traveled the world and never had many images to show for it all. I cherish ALL the images we have of Rafael. Blurry or not, I only wish we had more. I capture images of my everyday. Obssessed with capturing moments of my children, of my life and even my businesses. I believe the only thing that seperates a good image from a great image is its ability to tell a story and ultimately make you, the viewer, feel something.
