Her First Skate

Skate in Style!

Today Mini-Me attended a birthday party. The party was at a little rooftop skating rink in the middle of the busy city, surrounded by sky-scrappers. It was the first time The Abinator has ever been ice-skating {She. Was. AWESOME!}.

The rink was filled with happy, scared, proud children most skating for the first time & not one over the age of 8. It was nice to have her first skate sans the speeding teenagers or the twirling showoffs. The whole while I was reveling in the irony that she was born in Alaska, Lived through Washington Winters & we finally get her skating in Austin.

She fell, she got back up. She giggled A LOT – we both giggled a lot. It took me back to skating as a child, my family went ice-skating quite often. It took me back to skating with my brother and my cousins. Awesome childhood memories, that are always bittersweet. She was awesome though & she loved every second of it; even the falling and getting back up. It was one of those few parenting moments that was ALL I had hoped it would be.

Howdy! Obsessed with all things photography. Love to teach, and heal through this art. #photogHER2Day Coming to you from Austin, Tx. Above all else (and it's a lot) I'm Mom to Abby & Atlas. Married to my greatest supporter and friend, Curt. Everyday, I choose gratitude over grief.  #MakeTheTime to create for me, so I can be the very best for all those in my life. My "Why": 10 years ago I lost my brother. He was my best friend, my mentor, my compass.  He got sick out of the blue at the 30 years-old and was an inspiration to many. He traveled the world and never had many images to show for it all. I cherish ALL the images we have of Rafael. Blurry or not, I only wish we had more. I capture images of my everyday. Obssessed with capturing moments of my children, of my life and even my businesses. I believe the only thing that seperates a good image from a great image is its ability to tell a story and ultimately make you, the viewer, feel something.
